NON-SITE RUNWAY SHOW,
Visual Representation II,
From nocturnal site to textile apparel

Year: Spring 2019

The design of this textile was inspired by the planting plan of a parallel project, an exploration of franklin park’s nocturnal potentials through an introduction of bat species. The circles drawn represent bat corridor parameters - their maximum sonar echolocation distances from one tree roost to the next.

A layering of these paramters created a dynamic textile pattern as the basis for the dress. Printed on mylar and cut with continuous horizontal openings, the paper became a workable fabric to be draped over the body. The project was part of an exhibition culminating in a collective runway show held at the GSD as part of the course Visual Representation II. The runway show was titled ‘non-SITE’.
